What Mental Health Options Are Available in Visalia and the Central Valley?

Finding mental health care in Visalia can be confusing, especially when you’re trying to figure out whether you need weekly

Finding mental health care in Visalia can be confusing, especially when you’re trying to figure out whether you need weekly therapy, a more structured program, medication support, or something else entirely.

The Central Valley has several levels of outpatient mental health care available, and Vitalize Behavioral Health now has a Visalia location in addition to its Fresno-area programs and virtual care across California.

Looking for mental health treatment in Visalia? Contact Vitalize Behavioral Health to talk through what kind of support may fit your needs.

What Types of Mental Health Treatment Are Available in Visalia?

The right option depends on how much support you need and how much your symptoms are affecting everyday life.

Traditional outpatient therapy may be enough for someone who can manage daily responsibilities but wants regular support with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships, or other concerns.

When weekly therapy isn’t enough, an intensive outpatient program (IOP) provides several hours of structured treatment across multiple days each week. A partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers a higher level of support with more treatment hours during the week.

Vitalize offers several levels of care, including IOP, PHP, psychiatric care, and virtual treatment for teens and adults.

California’s Department of Health Care Services also notes that residents can access mental health services through county behavioral health programs, including Medi-Cal specialty mental health services when eligible.

What Does Vitalize Offer in the Central Valley?

Vitalize has locations in Fresno and Visalia, giving Central Valley residents more options for receiving structured behavioral health care closer to home. The Visalia office is located at 3742 W. Mineral King Ave.

Across its programs, Vitalize offers:

  • Child and adolescent IOP
  • Adult IOP
  • Adolescent and adult PHP
  • Psychiatric and medication support
  • Virtual IOP for adults throughout California

The Visalia location expands access for people who may not want to travel to Fresno for every appointment, while Vitalize’s broader treatment system makes it possible to match care to the level of support someone needs.

Can You Get Mental Health Treatment Virtually From the Central Valley?

Yes. Location doesn’t always have to determine whether structured treatment is accessible.

Vitalize’s Virtual IOP provides live intensive outpatient treatment over video for adults anywhere in California. That can be especially useful for people who live farther from a treatment center, have transportation limitations, or need evening programming that fits more easily around work and family responsibilities.

Virtual care may not be appropriate for everyone, so the intake process is still important. A clinician can help determine whether in-person care, virtual treatment, or another level of support makes the most sense.

You don’t need to know exactly which program you need before reaching out.

Contact Vitalize Behavioral Health to discuss mental health treatment options in Visalia and throughout the Central Valley and find a starting point that fits your situation.

Background and Experience

Prior to joining Vitalize Behavioral Health, I gained valuable experience working with individuals experiencing a wide range of mental health concerns across diverse clinical settings. I have a passion for working with adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, mood disorders, life transitions, and interpersonal challenges.

Clinical Director

I am a client-centered and ACT-focused clinician with a significant history working with children and adolescents. I deeply believe that therapy needs to be driven by the people we are working with, in order to achieve their own unique goals and personal ideals in regards to what they want their lives to be.

Areas of Specialization

  • Trauma
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • LGBTQ+
  • Children and Adolescents

Therapeutic Approach

I was trained as a person centered therapist through my graduate program and quickly gravitated towards acceptance and commitment therapy, which is a third wave behavioral therapy that focuses on acceptance of emotions and thoughts, coping effectively and committing to living our lives by our own values and ideals. I also utilize play therapy with younger clients that allows them to explore and process their emotions and struggles through a developmentally appropriate process. What clients can expect more than anything else is receiving therapy that is tailored to their needs. This would include exploring what gets in the way of them living how they want in a deep, meaningful way, developing skills and strategies that are tailored to their experience, and moving in a significant way towards the behaviors and goals they desire for themselves.

Education and Credentials

  • B.A. Psychology
  • M.S. Counseling
  • Marriage Family and Child Counseling, LMFT
  • Trained in Affirmative Therapy, Trauma-Informed Care, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

About Me

Primarily I gravitated towards becoming a therapist as I grew up with family members who needed mental health care in significant ways and I saw first hand how good, quality care benefitted them. I also attended therapy as a child and teenager and will be forever grateful that I saw competent, ethical therapists. Beyond that I am also a lifelong athlete who has seen the benefits of sports and meaningful experiences on people’s lives. I have been a whitewater river raft guide for the past 15 years and have worked on the Kings River and the American River.

REGIONAL CLINICAL DIRECTOR

As the Regional Clinical Director of the Adult IOP/PHP program, I bring over three years of experience in intensive outpatient care and six years in crisis intervention and emergency response alongside law enforcement. My clinical work is grounded in a psychodynamic approach through a trauma-informed lens, with a focus on helping clients understand how their past informs their present functioning. I became a therapist after starting my work as an emergency response advocate, where I supported individuals and families during some of their most difficult moments. Over time, I realized my true calling was in helping people not just survive those experiences, but heal from them, and that’s what led me to the deeper, ongoing work of therapy.
