A virtual IOP in Fresno can work with a full-time job because it offers structured mental health treatment without requiring you to commute to a clinic several days a week. For working adults, parents, and people balancing busy schedules, a virtual intensive outpatient program can provide the consistency of care they need while still allowing them to manage work, home life, and family responsibilities.

If weekly therapy is no longer enough, but residential inpatient treatment or a partial hospitalization program feels like too much, Virtual IOP can offer a practical middle ground.

Explore flexible, structured support by learning whether Virtual IOP at Vitalize fits your schedule and mental health needs. Contact us today.

What Is a Virtual IOP?

A virtual intensive outpatient program IOP is a structured form of behavioral health care delivered through secure telehealth sessions. It provides more support than traditional outpatient therapy while allowing participants to remain at home and continue with daily routines.

Virtual IOP may support people navigating mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, trauma, bipolar disorder, mood swings, and other mental health disorders. Some programs also offer integrated support for dual diagnosis concerns, where mental health issues and substance use challenges are both present.

What Does a Typical Virtual IOP Schedule Look Like?

Most Virtual IOPs involve about 9 to 15 hours of live telehealth participation per week, often broken into three-hour blocks across three to five days. This structure gives clients intensive support while still leaving room for work, school, caregiving, and other parts of daily life.

For someone working full-time, this may mean attending evening sessions, coordinating a consistent block of time during the week, or choosing a track that fits around their job.

A typical Virtual IOP schedule may include:

Group therapy with clinician-led peer support

Individual therapy or talk therapy

Family therapy sessions, when appropriate

Skills groups using evidence-based therapies like CBT and dialectical behavior therapy

Medication management or outpatient psychiatry, when clinically appropriate

Practical life skills, coping strategies, and symptom management

Can You Balance Virtual IOP With a 9-to-5 Job?

Yes, many people can. The key is planning ahead and treating the program like a serious appointment with your health and recovery.

Because Virtual IOP happens from home, clients save travel time and can often fit sessions more easily around their schedules. That flexibility can make a big difference for people who are working, parenting, or caring for a loved one.

That said, Virtual IOP still requires commitment. You’ll need a private space, reliable internet, and the ability to participate without distractions. This is real mental health care, not something to multitask through during work.

Is Virtual IOP as Effective as In-Person Care?

For the right person, Virtual IOP can be highly effective. Clinical studies have found that virtual IOPs can produce outcomes comparable to face-to-face programs when they use the same clinical structure, curriculum, and live therapeutic support.

The strongest Virtual IOP programs include the same core elements as in-person treatment programs: group therapy, individual counseling, psychiatric care, family involvement, and skills-based support.

The difference is delivery. Instead of attending care in person, clients participate through secure, HIPAA-compliant platforms from home.

What Makes Virtual IOP Work Well?

Virtual IOP is most successful when care is structured, consistent, and personalized. At Vitalize Behavioral Health, our approach emphasizes personalized care, trauma-informed care, and a holistic approach that looks at the whole person, not just symptoms.

Participants may work with seasoned and compassionate clinicians to build a personalized treatment plan that supports their goals, strengths, and mental health concerns.

Virtual IOP helps clients:

Build healthy coping skills

Manage stress in real time

Develop a deeper understanding of patterns and triggers

Practice practical skills in their home environment

Improve communication with loved ones

Strengthen mental wellness and overall well-being

When Is Virtual IOP a Good Fit?

Virtual IOP may be a good fit if you need structured mental health services but can safely remain at home. It may be appropriate for adults who need comprehensive care and ongoing support but do not require inpatient care, residential care, or a full-day partial hospitalization level of care.

It may not be the right fit if someone is in active crisis, needs close monitoring, or requires a residential program. That’s why an assessment matters—so the clinical team can recommend the safest and most effective treatment options.

Clinical Director

I am a client-centered and ACT-focused clinician with a significant history working with children and adolescents. I deeply believe that therapy needs to be driven by the people we are working with, in order to achieve their own unique goals and personal ideals in regards to what they want their lives to be.

Areas of Specialization

  • Trauma
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • LGBTQ+
  • Children and Adolescents

Therapeutic Approach

I was trained as a person centered therapist through my graduate program and quickly gravitated towards acceptance and commitment therapy, which is a third wave behavioral therapy that focuses on acceptance of emotions and thoughts, coping effectively and committing to living our lives by our own values and ideals. I also utilize play therapy with younger clients that allows them to explore and process their emotions and struggles through a developmentally appropriate process. What clients can expect more than anything else is receiving therapy that is tailored to their needs. This would include exploring what gets in the way of them living how they want in a deep, meaningful way, developing skills and strategies that are tailored to their experience, and moving in a significant way towards the behaviors and goals they desire for themselves.

Education and Credentials

About Me

Primarily I gravitated towards becoming a therapist as I grew up with family members who needed mental health care in significant ways and I saw first hand how good, quality care benefitted them. I also attended therapy as a child and teenager and will be forever grateful that I saw competent, ethical therapists. Beyond that I am also a lifelong athlete who has seen the benefits of sports and meaningful experiences on people’s lives. I have been a whitewater river raft guide for the past 15 years and have worked on the Kings River and the American River.

I became a therapist after starting my work as an emergency response advocate, where I supported individuals and families during some of their most difficult moments. Over time, I realized my true calling was in helping people not just survive those experiences, but heal from them, and that’s what led me to the deeper, ongoing work of therapy.
